The Amani Mission Team has finished up the February medical Camp. The team worked on continued upgrading of equipment, training, and completing over a dozen cataract surgeries.

Below are some pictures of two local eye surgeons, Dr. Frank Okada Nyakagwa and Dr. Barake Atunga Dennis, working alongside Dr. Michel Gelinas from the Amani Mission Team.

Feb 2022 Medical Camp and Amani Health Centre Grand Opening

July 2021 It’s Official “Ekerenyo Amani Health Centre is now a Registered Kenyan Hospital”

Update from  Amani Partners Kenya board of directors, to all volunteers and contributors past and present!

We wanted to pass on to you the latest news !

1. The Amani Health Centre has been officially registered as a hospital by the Kenyan government! This is what we’ve needed and worked toward, and it is huge!

2. The midwife just gave us a list of what all is needed in order to deliver babies there, and it totalled $5,000.  A generous donor family, without blinking an eye, sent a check for $5,300 to cover the cost!

3. Our Clinical Officer said that two women have registered to have their babies at Amani Centre next month!

We’re on the way!  Attached are some pictures of equipment arriving and being installed. By onsite local Kenya “Hospital Staff”

With gratitude for all that you have accomplished together, below are some pictures of the initial uplifting of Health Centre from our recent Fundraiser.

Fall 2020 Medical Camp Support

From FB of Lynn Renne…..
I can’t tell you how happy I am! We couldn’t go on our July medical camp trip to Kenya because of Covid here… and there! BUT– we’ve received the Kenyan government’s approval to hold a medical camp in October, in the new Amani Health Centre. And best of all, the team of Kenyans we’ve been working with for 10 years are going to be able to hold the medical camp on their own at the Amani Health Centre! We’ll miss being there, but know the people in the surrounding villages who need health care will be in good hands! We will be working with their on-site team with planning, technical, and budget support.
If you’d like to learn more and possibly help fund the medical camp (medical staff, pharmacist, dentist, medicine, lab tests) Click on the Facebook Fundraiser link below!  Every contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support !

2019 Medical Team Trip

July 2019 Medical Team Trip
New O.R., Local Doctors, and traveling Ophthalmic Team

We arrived safely in Kenya and I have met another great team! Today we were shown the new O.R. at the district hospital (about 30 minutes from the village where we hold medical camps and are building the Health Centre). It has one room designated to cataract surgery. This is a huge step in the whole process! We met the 2 new recent grads in ophthalmology who have just been appointed here, and they are eager to learn and use the state of the art equipment Dr. Michel Gelinas has brought with us over the last 3 years. Thanks to everyone who donated funds to make this possible! It’s great having Dr. Mike’s wife Cathy Holling Gelinas and his surgical tech Penny along with us. Penny will be training techs here to work with the surgeons when we’re not here. It’s also great to have Susan E Solomon and Linda Densmore on the team! They’ve already been wonderful! Today Dr. Mike is meeting with the governor, the minister of health and the press. It’s exciting!
